Wild Assent: Lavon Rising is a reprint campaign for Wild Assent, the questionably named and overly- ambitious board game from Lazy Squire Games. We’ve learned a lot since we first started making the game, in terms of design as well as manufacturing and fulfillment. We’re taking that hard-earned knowledge and putting it back into Wild Assent, to make a great game even better.
The relationships we’ve cultivated over the past few years have allowed us to do things we couldn’t during the first campaign, like offer full-printed games in multiple languages. What’s more, since the core game and Shadow of the Silvestrem expansion are already designed, we’ll be sending them out earlier than Lavon Rising, so you won’t need to wait as long to battle in the arena or hunt in Wilds.

Core Game Improvements & Additions

Journey into the unknown like never before across the new map of the Wilds. Selecting the location of your next encounter now comes with new risks and rewards, as the greater the distance you travel from the safety of your encampment, the more “eventful” your hunt will become.
Choose to mitigate some of the risks with the new Planning encampment action, spending precious time to try to avoid the worst of possible outcomes.
Not all the new events are detrimental to the seekers’ hunt, but each step you take in the Wilds courts disaster.
Experience the full peril of the Wilds with the new Permadeath hard mode rule. You begin your expedition with 6 seekers, but if any should fall in combat they are likely lost forever. Permadeath increases the challenge of the Hunt but also puts a magnifying glass on every risk the players are willing (or not willing) to take with their decidedly more mortal seekers.
As seekers are attacked, they can now become increasingly evasive to improve their survivability, exercising greater caution against their deadly prey. Stalwart seekers may now also provoke creatures away from their allies to give players more control in each encounter.
Pressed for time? Want to jump into the Hunt mode with more skills at your disposal? Take on the Veteran Hunt mode which begins in the 4th season, after your seekers have already established their encampment and tasted victory in the Wilds.
We’re adding new encampment action cards that let you track your seekers’ progress at the Silvestrem and while scouting.

  • Dangers of the Wilds Additions

Take your hunts to the next level with a host of gameplay additions that make both your seekers and the creatures they face more powerful. Nightmare mode includes all the features listed below as well as the ability to field multiple creatures of the same type. Led by a powerful Alpha, these packs of creatures present new challenges, including new Instinct cards that can be used in regular hunts.

The Wilds itself reacts to your incursion into its unchartered landscapes in the form of the new Wilds deck. Each round will present new challenges for the seekers as the Wilds fights back at these unworthy intruders.
Make your favorite seekers even better with new specializations, allowing them to grow in experience and unlock powerful upgrades and abilities designed specifically for them. Use the new encampment action, Training, to push seekers to their limits and unlock specializations even faster.
Tired of consumables, maps and magical chains? Craft new creature-specific equipment that can grow in power when used against its former kin. Customize your seekers with this vast array of new gear, granting them the powers and abilities once only held by the Wilds’ most dangerous monsters.

Gameplay Overview

I went to the Wilds once. A flower ate my horse and then a dinosaur ate the flower. Assuming the dinosaur was an herbivore, does that mean he lost his vegetarian cred? I certainly didn’t hang around to ask.
“Vareclea’s Meddling” can range anywhere from fervent booing to massive storms, so it would behoove you to keep her entertained. Better to dance a thousand jigs than be forced to outrun lightning once, is all I’m saying.
The myth of Lavon ends with her lifeless body sinking into the depths of what is now known as the Godfell Swamps. It was a day of great sadness for all her followers as well as the local waterfront real estate agents.
By clicking the image above, you can check out the demo campaign book for Lavon Rising. If you’ve ever perused the Stormsunder demo campaign book you will immediately feel at home (and that was very much intentional). Please keep in mind that just like Stormsunder, the Lavon Rising demo takes place in the middle-ish of the story, but unlike Stormsunder there are some heavy spoilers. Ye have been warned.

Pledge Content Summary

The Wild Assent core game includes the reprinted core game, the Feathered Serpent, the Lady Aylwen & Unicorn expansion as well as all the original campaign’s stretch goals except for the two crossover minis (they will be put with the new stretch goals as automatic unlocks). The core game includes all you need to play the 1-4 player Solo/Co-Op Hunt mode, the 1v1/2v2 Arena mode as well as a the story-based campaign (a sort of structured Hunt mode that follows a group of seekers as they hunt creatures in the Wilds).
The Shadow of the Silvestrem expansion includes all its original components (reprinted, of course) as well as a new Dangers of the Wilds box which includes an additional 26 creature miniatures and allows you to face packs of creatures for higher difficulty in the Hunt’s new Nightmare mode. The Shadow of the Silvestrem expansion adds a solo story-based prologue campaign, four boss fights as well as new Seekers, Assents and mercenaries.
The Lavon Rising Expansion is new content for Wild Assent that adds a 100-page decision-based narrative campaign book with multiple different adventures that give the feeling of a large scale narrative campaign (with impactful choices that affect the story and its conclusion) but without needing years to complete them. Lavon Rising also adds new mechanics such as equipment specializations and paths to customize your seekers in the Hunt mode and the ability to field XL creatures in the Arena mode.

Playthroughs & Reviews

Alex from BoardGameCo and Jesse from Quackalope Review Lavon Rising after playing the demo. It’s hard to imagine them liking it more (maybe if it had ducks?).

Alex and Jesse play the first encounter of the Lavon Rising demo (I hear they liked it so much, the blew through the other two encounters shortly after).

Alex gave Wild Assent a 5/5 in the comments of the video which is akin to writing it on the back of the Declaration of Independence in invisible ink.

After previously being defeated by our 2-mini promo box for Stormsunder: Heirs of Ruin, King of Average is back to show he can not only open boxes, he can analyze their contents down to the finest detail. Don't tell him, but I had trouble getting that promo box open the first time too (Magnets: How do they work?).

Becca Scott reporting live from the Wilds to give an overview of Wild Assent’s Hunt mode. I hear in the director’s cut she gets eaten by a flower.

I’m really jealous of Jeremy Howard’s shirt. I couldn’t pull off a shirt like that in Hawaii at night during a power outage.

ON TABLE Board Games' gameplay overview of Wild Assent's Hunt mode with miniature close-ups so intense, I pulled my blankets up to my nose.

ON TABLE Board Games takes a 4K look at Wild Assent. Game looks so crisp, it might as well be an apple.

Check out Rolling Solo's Hunt Setup video to see exactly where it's about to go wrong as he's totally going to get eaten by a flower or something. The Wilds are no joke.

Adam Smith of Rolling Solo takes a detailed look at the encounter rules from the Hunt mode. Either that or he has a really active imagination.

Rolling Solo offering something I’m not sure any other video does: a chance to hear Fani and Berlyne pronounced correctly.

Rolling Solo finishes out his Hunt mode series, showing how you take names after kicking… well, you know.

Dave in bed after battling Poison Ivy. Dave is Batman: Confirmed.

Dave shaved the sides of his head shortly after filming this. Legend has it the sides transformed into two new Daves that plague the great white north do this day.

Bryan from Game Brigade gives the original release of Wild Assent an 8.1 but says with some fixes it could be an 8.9 or maybe a 9. Level up requirements accepted, sir.

Chris of Liege of Games wears Wild Assent’s box lid like a hat. Oh mighty king of cardboard entertainment, what has happened to thy crown?

Gerry of Beasts of War interviews Robert Mc Connell about all things Wild Assent. I don’t think I should make a joke here. I mean, look at the Robert guy’s face… Hasn’t he suffered enough?

Mainely Board Games or Manly Board Games? Oh, it’s Mainely. Fair enough.

Andrew and Steve return for Season 2: The Sequel.

Mainely Board Games survives Season 3 of the Hunt. It went something like, “It was the Creature’s activation; Steve reached Andrew another Instinct card.”

El Gremio de Mecenas experiences his first encounter in the Hunt mode. Can I just say that he has the most accurate intro of any video on the internet?

El Gremio de Mecenas returns to his encampment victorious! And probably covered in creature-guts.

Genus Solo begins a new hunt, but in German (I’m running out of weird things to say about videos, folks).

We here at the Cornball Caption Commission would like to disavow the previous Genus Solo caption. It does not represent us. It’s not who we are nor who we wish to be.

I always look at “Duetsch” and think “Oh, wow, it’s in Dutch” because I’m uncultured, and maybe a little dense.

Miniatures

We won’t be able to manufacture Wild Assent’s miniatures in Unicast again, so we’re going to need all new molds for all the minis from the first campaign. With that certainty comes an opportunity: to out-do what we did before and make Wild Assent’s miniatures even better.
Zaxos, Fani, Illithena and Berlyne are the “OG” seekers. Plus, their names are pretty Fani, almost Berlyne.
Not all the creatures in the Wilds are that big, but it only takes one to eat you. Then you’re just a statistic. And dinner. You might say you're statistically delicious.

Please note the word “Pledge” there. No, you don’t get the mini just for following. You will need to follow and pledge (when the campaign launches) to secure your free dino-riding ashcarii. Still pretty awesome, though!
These two miniatures (Aleksander above, Jaden below) are final PVC miniatures from Stormsunder: Heirs of Ruin. This is the kind of quality/detail we plan to have for Wild Assent.
Lazy Squire Games is proud to announce Angel Giraldez is our official painter! Angel brings a sharp eye and a steady hand to bring our gorgeously detailed miniatures to life. Keep an eye on his YouTube channel for monthly painting videos for LSG games.

Lazy Squire Games

We here at Lazy Squire Games are dedicated to making fun board games with solid mechanics, captivating lore and gorgeous miniatures. We made Wild Assent, which is delivering now. We’re making Stormsunder: Heirs of Ruin (shameless plug/like/comment/subscribe -> late pledge here), and we want to make Wild Assent (again). Wild Assent was a learning experience in a lot of ways for us, and we used that knowledge to design Stormsunder which we want to then pay it forward and feed back into Wild Assent . Basically, we’ve stepped up our game significantly since 2018 and now it’s time to take the Wilds to a wider audience, so even more people can get eaten by new and interesting monsters.
Stop by and say “hi” on our Discord! Just click on the image below.

We proudly present a pack of Wild Assent avatars! Show off your excitement for the game and never be a floating head icon ever again.

Refunds and cancellation

Backers will be able to get a refund up until when we close the pledge manager (because that will mean your game is getting ready to be shipped). Any refund will be minus any Gamefound/banking fees incurred by Lazy Squire Games after Gamefound transfers the money (10%-15%). We will announce when Wild Assent’s pledge manager is about to close so you have plenty of warning.
