Project story

La pagina del progetto non ha altre lingue disponibili.

The first six sets are out! We would like to release all the 9 sets in digital format as soon as possible, the printed card tiles will be shipped after that. If you join now, you'll receive the download links with the upcoming release.

The next themes will come: Crypt, Underwater, Jungle ruins, and an extra extended dungeon dressings set.
The digital release commenced in the first months of 2025 (new sets will come by every 2-3 weeks) and the PRINTED card tiles will be sent out after these releases are finished.
Please keep this timeline in mind when supporting our project. Thank you!

Longer explanation:  Our original project on Kickstarter was a classic crowdfunding effort. Two guys had an idea to create a product that would help in their Game Mastering, enlisting assistance from fellow artists for the artwork. We turned to Kickstarter, where the support from this community surpassed all our expectations. However, due to an unexpected medical issue, our lead team member had to step away for a few months. Consequently, we couldn't meet our original deadline and are currently facing a six-month delay due to the recovery period. Now, everyone is back and dedicated to working full-time on the project. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience the delay has caused.

Add-ons

You can select additional items to your Rewards here.
Selecting a printed reward containing the wall and map pieces on card tiles (you still have to 3D print the columns and other 3D printable parts) will increase the shipping cost. This project is not EU-safe, the cost of shipping will be higher outside of the US.

Features

If you have already 3D printed or tried to print a bunch of dungeon pieces then you know that it needs space, and also requires a minimal coating and painting to make it look better. We also love 3D printing but we needed a solution to have good-looking dungeons that are transportable, don't take much space, and... cheap.

We started testing this system two years ago to find the best solution and we came up with an idea where minimal 3D printing and some paper can give you the best result you could possibly get.

How it works

Themes

We planned with four themes, the Cathedral, Sewer, Cave, and City.

And our backers have unlocked the next themes: Egyptian, Crypt, Wild West, Jungle, and Underwater.

These are the main areas an adventuring party will meet for sure, but you can always change how you use them, for example, the simple sewer wall could work perfectly fine as a dungeon or prison and the cathedral can look like a catacomb.

Every theme contains a unique 3D printable column and a bunch of wall pieces with different variations from 1" inch wide up to 6 inches.

Stretch Goals on Kickstarter

You'll see the list of the original unlocked stretch goals below, these will extend the sets you'll receive.

All Stretch Goals will be available for everyone, added to the themes in digital format, and to the printed cards as extra pieces. One printed tile can contain three 6-inch long walls, so 7 new tiles mean around 30 new wall pieces printed in various sizes.

To receive the new unlocked Themes (with red title) in printed format, choose these sets from the list of add-ons. These goals will include a completely new set with around 126 wall pieces and 7 floor tiles. Please note that you still have to print the STL files (columns and other parts) yourself, we will ship the wall pieces and maps only!

More details

Oh, have you read through the campaign? Big words, huh?
Let me introduce you to the system itself.
The columns, curved wall holders, and other extra elements like the bases of the statues are 3D-printable and they look nice even without painting (not a single one was painted in the photos), the dungeon walls and columns were designed by the graphic artists of Lord Zsezse Works and Black Scrolls Games for the best result.

How to print them at home:

We have an Ender 3 pro and we used brown PLA filament to print them, at 0.2mm / 0.26mm layer height. One basic X-shaped column can print up in 20 minutes and you can use them for every theme, the designed custom columns took 6-8 hours/12 pieces to print.
You can print the walls at home using any inkjet or laser printer (ours were printed with an HP Photosmart inkjet on 190gr matte photo paper, not photo quality but the maximum average quality was selected.) The only additional work needed is to cut them through the straight edges and fold them in half.
45 sheets of paper for the four themes and for a table sized dungeon with some houses and spare parts
- 3 inches long wall pieces
- sewer theme
- map bases

You can apply one coat of dry brushing or ink on the columns to get a nice result in no time if you use colored filaments and want a slightly better look.

Store them in your unused filament box, and now you have a dungeon system that is small, modular, affordable, and good-looking.
3D columns will come with three different slot sizes for different paper thicknesses. The normal slot size will work with around 190-gram papers folded in half, the tight one works well with papers of less thickness or the pre-printed card tiles, and the loose will work with ~300-gram papers.
Use your maps to build walls on them and add a third dimension to your game!

Features of printed card-tiles

It is also possible to order these titles printed via OneBookShelf as double-sided and UV-coated tiles that you can cut into pieces to use with your 3D-printed columns.
*illustration, art is not final
These tiles will be printed and shipped from the US, the maps will come as 8"x10" sized double-sided and UV-coated card tiles, and the walls will be the same but printed on 6"x6" inches sized card tiles.
The walls will require further cutting through straight lines, but once you did that, you can store them in a small box and use them as many times as you want.
You can write on the maps and the walls with wet-erase markers!
One printed set contains:
  • 7 double-sided maps (8 inches x 10 inches)
  • extra elements like archways, doors, and torches as cut-out objects printed on the tiles.
  • 21 pieces of walls from every size, 1-2-3-4-5-6 inches long, 2 inches (5cm) tall, printed on around 30 pieces of 6"x6" tiles altogether.
You could've met with these tiles in the Cities of the Black Scrolls campaign of  Black Scrolls Games.
*map-tiles of Black Scrolls Games, printed on the same material
You still have to 3D print the columns! The printed wall set contains the walls, extra elements, and maps only.

Downsides

We are not trying to trick you, the modularity and the fast-placable structure have some downsides.

No levels: Sorry guys, this design will not let you stack levels on each other, simply nothing can hold the paper base from below. 3D printable raised levels, building it on a box, or a thick cardboard base could do that however, it is your turn to craft something you need, our goal was only to make a system you don't have to spend days with before using.
Large areas can be wobbly: While smaller structures are quite sturdy, larger areas can slightly move on the map, depending on the papers and how many walls you use to support the structure. You can see an example of the areas below:

Preparing time: Printing the universal columns takes ~20 minutes each, and 12 custom columns will last 8-9 hours on an Ender 3 machine with our settings. You will need around 40-60 columns for a larger structure and the time of printing can be a downside. Same thing with the preparation of paper walls. While we added cutting marks to help you cut out the walls and it contains mostly straight lines, it still takes some time. However, you have to do these only once and the time you spent with it will surely pay off! :)

Who are we?

We are a small team, Lord Zsezse Works. Our team was founded in 2009,  and our goal has always been to create scenic accessories like maps, tiles, and paper models for role players and anyone who likes papercraft models.
Our friends at Black Scrolls Games are in the Tabletop RPG business since 2016. They have forged all of the experience and knowledge they collected as Game Masters and 3D artists in the past years into their products to create beautiful 3D-based maps and detailed 3D printables.

Why do we need your support?
Lord Zsezse Works is a micro company and we are excited that as of now it has become our only revenue source, so we can work on our ideas with complete focus. The only disadvantage of this is that when we have a bigger idea it might take weeks or months to wrap it up. The future of our company highly depends on our income and these pauses of months would set us back. This is the reason we are asking for your help and we believe that with it we will be able to succeed with this monumental plan.

Refunds and cancellation

Why was this project on Kickstarter?
Making a set takes time and releasing a new product is very risky for a small business like us. With the help of Kickstarter, it will be easier for us to manage our work and our other processes because we will see how many customers are interested in our products. Also, with the help of the comment sections, we will know what you need.

Info about licenses:
We release our products under the CC-BY-NC license, which means you can modify, use, and display these models for personal use. You cannot sell digital and/or printed copies or earn money with them. If you share pictures on other sites or groups, please mention our page where others can also get the models.
However, if you select the Merchant ADD-ON you can sell the printed result of the STL files (and not the walls!)
Thank you!

Risks and challenges
We already released 30 larger and smaller products as Lord Zsezse Works since we started our company ten years ago and more than 100 products working with other publishers in the past years. We managed long projects, too, (some of them were 2 years long) and learned how to deliver and how to develop a product from scratch. Our experience of publishing and releasing products will help us to bring these products to you after this Kickstarter campaign. Many of the elements of this project are already tested and designed and because of this, we don't see any reason for delay. If anything comes up we will let you know and tell you how we will handle and solve it. This is our second self-run Kickstarter project here, but we helped to design and manage many more, this process is not unfamiliar to us.

We offer refunds and cancellations. Please contact us directly to initiate the process. We are happy to assist you.
