In Sea of Legends, you'll manage multiple adventures between your Lover, Nemesis, and Captain, while building up the ultimate crew and acquiring treasure. The first player to gain 10 Notoriety wins! But if left unchecked, the NPC Factions can also claim victory. That means that as the players compete, they might also have to band together so they don't all lose.
Each turn, players may move and take one of three possible actions: attack, visit a port, or go on an adventure. When attacking, you'll gather your dice and utilize your crew,  ship, items, and Lover abilities to gain the advantage. But your Nemesis will interfere, so keep your wits about you as you face down mythical monsters and evil empires.
You can always stop at a port when you need a break from all the fighting. Find a Hideout to bury gold, while your crew rest and relax. Or maybe you need a bigger ship? Then stop at the Shipyard and get yourself a fancy new vessel. Perhaps a few of your crew aren't pulling their weight? Toss 'em overboard and find some replacements at the Hiring Hall! Or stop at every scoundrel's second home, the Tavern.
Being a pirate can really parch your throat! Why not stop and have drink? Play some games and earn yourself a few spare coins while visiting the Tavern. Who knows? You might even overhear a juicy rumor. Each rumor will lead you to a relic hidden on the map.
Each adventure is part of a larger branching narrative that takes place in the Sea of Legends app. This is a choose-your-own-adventure like you've never seen before. You might help your Lover out of jam, hunt down your Nemesis, or even befriend the strange denizens of the Caribbean! Your adventures will help you find gold, items, notoriety, and other unique rewards. But whatever you choose, the Sea of Legends app will take note and connect your stories with those of the other players at the table.
This is a sandbox game and there are multiple paths to victory. You can hunt down relics, battle monsters, or build your very own pirate empire! It's up to you, but you can bet your dusty doubloons that your rivals won't give up without a fight. Faction Overview
Each time you play you can select one to two factions for the game session in addition to the ever-present Spanish Armada. These factions determine adventure arcs, items, crew, and Lover/Nemeses you will discover. Each faction has their own unique mechanics and objectives that they will pursue during the game. They are presented below. Disclaimer, as is the nature of Kickstarter, the mechanics presented below may change before release.
The Dread Tide’s undead soldiers will try to form up into clusters of the three and transform into Skeletal Colossus. The colossus will infest ports, destroying them, and when the Dread Tide infest 5 ports they win--taking over the Caribbean with their undead hordes.
The Children of Tlaloc, our merfolk faction, move toward the corners of the map to collect relics. Once they have found them, they bring the relics back to Tortuga to summon the Sea’s Firstborn. Together, they’ll hunt for relics, chasing down captains who have them and once they gain four relics, they win!
The British Empire invades the Caribbean for queen and country, they take over shipyards to gain power and then move to unclaimed ports. They can spend their newfound power to take over that port and when they take over 4 ports they win.
Unlike other factions, the Atlanteans have a uniquely combative dynamic between their characters. The Atlantean King In Exile doesn’t start out hostile to the players. He’s been deposed and has come to the surface looking for aid. If the Atlantean Seekers catch and kill the king they win, leveraging his relics and throne to take over the Caribbean. It's up to the players to defend the King In Exile from the dissidents and in exchange they get access to Atlantis’ powerful artifacts.
The Ordo of Nocturnus sends their initiates to infiltrate the ports, establishing secret cults. Once they have five in place, they summon their demon-prince, Nocturne. Once unleashed, he will move across the map to devour his disciples and gain ultimate power. If he’s not stopped, he will cover the world in darkness.
When the Aztec Reawakening is chosen, players will receive a cursed Aztec coin whenever they’d gain 5 or more gold at one time. These coins have negative effects similar to Nemesis abilities. If Jaguar champions attack you, you may choose to give up the coin to avoid them or if they best you, they’ll take it by force. Once acquired, the champions will offer these coins to Quetzalcoatl. When Quetzalcoatl gains 6 Aztec coins, they’re able to summon their empire from the ruins and win.
When playing with Sea’s Fury, the coven of sea witches believes all pirates are guilty of stealing their relics. The Spirit of Vengeance summons Sea Elementals that will try to sneak aboard your ship and take relics back. These elementals do not start combat when they take back their relics, so players either need to be aggressive and attack the water spirits before they catch up with the player or they will chase them down after they’ve lost the relics.
In the Harpy’s Descent, the player with the most Notoriety will get a Hunted token, the Harpy chases down that player. If the Harpy defeats them in combat. The Harpy takes the token and their Notoriety. When the Harpy steals 6 Notoriety, she wins. However, if a player defeats the Harpy they gain all the notoriety she has stolen from the other players.

The Sea of Legends app pushes far beyond the traditional bounds of choose-your-own-adventure books, creating unique stories and endless replayability.
The Sea of Legends app procedurally integrates characters and storylines from NPC Factions, Lovers, and Nemeses in play. This also means that other players’ Lovers and Nemeses will show up in your stories! Together, these elements combine to create an anthology of interwoven stories that are unique to your playthrough. Players will see their choices make an impact both on the board and in the tales of competing captains. The app assures these stories aren't repeated, prioritizing unplayed storylines in your game sessions until every adventure has been experienced.

These are projected shipping rates. While we've worked closely with our distribution partners to ensure the accuracy of these numbers, fluctuations may occur and the price will be adjusted accordingly when charged via Pledge Manager. 
EU Zone 1 includes: France, Belgium, Germany, Netherlands, Luxembourg, EU Zone 2 UK, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Portugal, and Austria. EU Zone 3 includes: Denmark, Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Switzerland, and Sweden. EU Zone 4 includes: Greece, Iceland, Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania, Finland, and any unlisted Eastern European Countries.
Guildhall Studios is the harebrained creation of legendary game designer, Jordan Weisman (Creator of Battletech, Shadowrun, Mage Knight), and two young upstarts, Zach Weisman (Calliope, Shadowrun Returns) and Ryan Schapals (BATTLETECH, Weave, Mortal Shell). With over 50 years of collective experience in the games industry, they’ve come together to give players an all-new tabletop experience.
 We’re working with a tremendous team of artists, writers, sculptors, and graphic designers to polish off the final components so that we are ready to place the order soon after this campaign concludes. 
Risks and challenges
Sea of Legends is our first Kickstarter game as Guildhall Studios. However, the team at Guildhall has over 50 years of combined game industry experience. Additionally, we are working with the dedicated team of partners including Off Duty Ninja and Be Bold Games who have decades of tabletop marketing and Kickstarter experience to help us run this campaign in the best way for our backers. We are committed to delivering this game in a timely manner with the highest attention to detail and quality. That said, there are always many considerations in a project of this scope and unforeseen complexities that may cause delays. There are many steps in the process of manufacturing and fulfilling a game, many of which involve partnerships. Through careful and thorough planning, common mistakes can be avoided. However, possible delays can occur from circumstances beyond our immediate control. If such an issue is encountered, our team will adapt, and no corners will be cut to course-correct as needed. Overall, our greatest obstacle is simply the funding to manufacture such an ambitious product of the highest quality capable. Your contribution makes this a reality! The estimated delivery date for this project is February 2021. That is our goal and we are confident that we can hit that target. Although that date is specific for North America and because of the logistics involved in international shipping, backers in different regions of the world may receive their rewards sooner or later than others. There is one complication and that is COVID-19. We’ve been in communication with our manufacturing partner to prepare for these delays and built them into our timeline, but with this being a unexpected pandemic there may be other consequences that we can’t predict. Throughout Kickstarter and afterward, we will be transparent and open with our communication so that you’re aware of any wrinkles in the production and fulfillment process. We've done our best to minimize any other complexities as much as possible, and we are always happy to refund pledges if the unthinkable happens and a pledge is undeliverable. TERMS AND CONDITIONS This project is not final. The look, materials, and content of this game and all rewards are subject to change and may differ from what is presented on this Kickstarter page between now and fulfillment. Our goal is to change as little as possible between now and start of production, but development is an iterative process. If you do not agree to these terms please do not pledge to this project and wait to purchase the game from us upon release. REFUNDS We will honor refunds within 14 days of the campaign’s end, including any fees.
