How to play Eleven

At the beginning of the game, you draft your Board of Directors. Each Director has specific preferences for how to run a club, and unique abilities that may direct you toward specific strategies.
You also start with simple Stadium facilities that you can modernize throughout the game, as well as a team of basic Players with one Veteran, one Youngster, and a First Trainer to help your club reach greatness.

The game plays out over the course of 8 Weeks (rounds), each consisting of 5 Days (stages).

Every Monday there is a Board Meeting, during which Directors decide on how to deal with events that occur around the club.
The next 3 days are your time to manage the club in a quest to gain an advantage over your competition.
Each day you may perform one action and one free action.

Hire a Player
Hire a Youngster or spend more money to Contract an experienced Veteran—both of which may be trained later in the game. Each Player is either offensive or defensive, specializes in one section of the field, and often comes with an ability that may be triggered during the match.
Sell a Player
Selling Players can be a lucrative source of funds. Youngsters may gain experience playing on your team, and may then be sold to provide victory points and cash.
Hire new Staff
Hire Doctors, Fitness Trainers, Tacticians, Resource Managers, and many more to bring valuable bonus abilities and additional actions.
Contract a sponsor
Contracting Sponsors brings in a steady source of income for your club and some unique bonuses. You can sign 3 types of Sponsorship agreements: one-time deals bringing instant cash, long-term banner ads placed in your stadium, and long-term sponsorship deals when putting the sponsor’s logo on your team’s outfits.
Invest in Stadium Infrastructure
Equip your Stadium with lighting, new training grounds, additional seating sectors, adboards for new Sponsors, or a merchandise store. These investments take money, but also bring additional abilities and prestige to your club. You may also expand your Office, so your club can work faster and more efficiently.
Increase the Club's potential
There are 4 main types of resources in the game: Cash, Fan Base, Operation, and Fitness. You gain resources at the beginning of each week according to the stats of your club, which fluctuate throughout the game depending on your decisions.
Use an action on a card or a token
Many of your Staff, Players, and Director cards offer their own specific actions which you can trigger as a main action or as an additional free action by using Operation.
After an entire week of hard work comes the Matchday. Before the Match you get some insider info about your Opponent—what Match formation they will use and what to expect from them. Based on that, you plan your formation and decide on which Players are sent to the field in which sections.
The Match is resolved by comparing attack and defense values on the pitch and by using Tactic cards. You can also trigger Players’ special abilities by spending Fitness.
The results of the match are marked on the League table where you can compare your position against the other clubs in the league.
After 8 rounds, known as Weeks, the season ends. Each player gains points for their position on the League table, fulfilled Objectives, built Infrastructure and Offices, hired Staff, and sold Players. The player who scored the most points becomes the winner.

Rulebook

We are happy to share with you a very early draft of the rulebook. Please, don't hesitate to comment on which sections are not clear enough - we will read your feedback and improve the document during the campaign.

Tabletop Simulator

You can now test Eleven on Tabletop Simulator. Please note this is a demo version of the game with a limited amount of cards and other components. The mod currently supports solo and 2-player gameplay. We are excited to get your feedback - on the virtual table you will find a web form, where you can write about your experience. Let us know what you think!

The origins of Eleven

Eleven is a reimplementation of Club Stories, a game for 1 to 2 players, designed by Thomas Jansen and self published in 2017. Club Stories is praised by gamers for being a great simulation of playing a football manager video game with interesting mechanics and a great solo campaign.

Eleven takes the ideas from Club Stories to the next level by introducing new gameplay modes, and totally new concepts. Just like Club Stories, Eleven is designed by Thomas Jansen, and further developed by Ignacy Trzewiczek and the Portal Games development team.

About Portal Games

Portal Games is a publisher of award-winning games such as Robinson Crusoe: Adventures on the Cursed Island, Detective: A Modern Crime Board Game, Imperial Settlers, Empires of the North, and Neuroshima Hex. The company was founded in Poland in 1999 and developed into one of the most renowned European game publishers and design teams. Their commitment is to produce only the highest quality Board Games That Tell Stories.

Eleven is Portal Games’ newest economic board game, following Pret-a-Porter, a highly regarded economic simulation game about running a company in the fashion industry. The game was first published in 2010, and after several reprints was successfully crowdfunded in 2019 with the third edition featuring stunning artwork by Kwanchai Moriya.

Risks and challenges

Eleven is Portal Games' fourth crowdfunding campaign, after Pret-a-Porter 2nd Ed. successfully funded in 2019, Stronghold Undead 2nd Ed. in 2020, and Robinson Crusoe earlier in 2021. Previous campaigns have allowed us to gather valuable experience at running such projects, which we are extremely excited to use with the Eleven Gamefound Campaign.

We are confident about the delivery of the game and foresee no risk in that regard. The only risk factor, which can always happen, is a delay in delivery due to unforeseen circumstances. These may be caused by many different factors, such as production, shipping, and customs.

We are devoted to bringing you the highest quality product. Please note that this is not a pre-order, and the final product might vary in the process or become delayed. We are fully devoted to creating an amazing experience and you can trust us that every choice we make will be aimed at improving the final product.

Refunds and cancellation

During the crowdfunding campaign you can freely modify or cancel your order. Gamefound only collects your payment at the end of a successfully funded campaign.

After the campaign, if you would like to resign from a part of your pledge or cancel your order, you can contact our customer support team and request a partial refund or cancellation. We offer a 97% refund for the first 3 months after the campaign (3% administrative and payment processing costs) and a 91% refund after 3 months (9% administrative and payment processing costs). The refund (after deduction as mentioned) covers both the pledge and the shipping price. Processing of your refund request shall not take more than 30 days.

If you receive the game and any component is damaged or missing, our customer service, upon contact, will be happy to send replacements. Please note we offer this service for the period of 24 months after the product was delivered.

Terms and conditions

By pledging to this campaign, you acknowledge that the final appearance, materials, and content of the rewards (and the campaign) are subject to change and may differ substantially from what is presented while the campaign project is active.

You agree that our responsibility to you is to ship your reward and/or add-ons as entered into our pledge manager system, that title and risk passes to you upon delivery to a common carrier for such shipment, and you are responsible for import duties or any other duties that may be payable to the relevant tax authorities, providing correct address information and ensuring this address is deliverable by normal methods.
