After a successful Kickstarter campaign, After the Empire was delivered to backers and soon became one of the most highly reviewed and rated new games. The first print run is now sold out, and Grey Fox Games is now holding a reprint crowdfunding campaign on Gamefound.
After the Empire combines solid worker placement mechanics with engine building and a unique, never-before-seen tower defense mechanic to create a game that is truly original and nothing like anything in your current collection of games.
Backers can now claim a Kickstarter version of the game with all of the original exclusives that were included in the first print run. If you own the retail version of the game, we have included an upgrade kit add-on that will replace all of your retail components with their Kickstarter upgrades.
Finally, for those who backed the original campaign, all of the original add-ons are available (Neoprene Mat Set, Game Trayz, and the Captain of the Guard mini-expansion) along with the brand new Solo Mode expansion!
What's in the Box
Cost: Shipping is really expensive (almost as much as making the actual game) and we have tried to come up with pricing that accurately reflects our cost to get the game into your hands without creating a logistical nightmare on our side. Your shipping will be added in the pledge manager. We expect that we'll have to come out of pocket a bit based on what we are charging and we are ok with that.
Tracking: We will also be using non-trackable shipments in some cases in order to save on cost as tracking can add 30-50% or more in some cases. So please understand if we do not have tracking with your package we did so knowingly. Rest assured, that we will get you your game and any risk associated with a package not being trackable is on us.
Delivery time: While we would love to get everyone their games at the same time, it is just not possible. There is a high likelihood that some areas of the world will get their games before others. Our commitment is to get the games ready and printed as fast as possible (we've already done a ton of the prep work).
At the factory we will break out the shipments to each fulfillment company with instructions to them that they should begin shipping as soon as possible upon receipt. In addition, because we have complete control over the U.S. shipments, you will not be able to order and receive the game on Amazon (or from any other US retailer) before our backers have it.
Please note: Because of unexpected delays and other unforseen issues, we reserve the right to sell the game at major conventions, even if they have not been delivered yet. The reason for this is that conventions are among the best form of marketing and therefore necessary to give the game the best chance for success
One guarantee we will give is that if we do release the KS exclusive version anywhere before the backers receive theirs it will be at a price that is higher (usually significantly) than what was offered in the campaign.
Risks and challenges
As a publisher that has brought more than 20 games to market thus far, we feel confident in our ability to get this done. As this is a simple reprint with just a small solo deck to be added as new content, this should not be hard at all for us to deliver on time. We are confident that we will hit our release date with no problems (shipping delays or Acts of God notwithstanding).
Finally, we understand that some areas are not listed as tax/VAT friendly and this is due to the fact that we just do not know if the order will end up being tax-free. We will do our very best to deliver the product to you in a way that does not cost you any more than what we have listed. However, we have no control over what your tax authority may decide to do with your package. If a fee is owed on the package, you will have to pay it in order to have the package delivered.
Refunds and cancellation
As we have to spend funds to make the game you ordered and we plan on making just a few more than what is ordered, we cannot offer full refunds after the campaign is finished. We will be putting our print order in immediately at the end of the campaign and, at that point, it is too late to not print your game. In the event you do need a refund within 4 weeks after the campaign is final we will offer a refund minus 20% to cover the cost of non-refundable fees on our part and the partial cost to make your game. After that time, we are unable to guarantee a refund of any kind.
