In Pilgrim, players are abbots and abbesses of their own provincial 14th century abbey, each seeking to:
  • Build the best pilgrim routes to distant sites via strategic shrines
  • Ordain serfs to become acolytes
  • Give alms to the poor
  • Build essential annexes
  • Be the most devout and pious
A unique twist on a mancala-movement mechanism distributes a player's acolytes across eight duties and the capital city to determine each turn's action. 18xx-style tile development on the map board builds trade routes for revenue and pilgrim trails for endgame points. Common serfs need to be ordained to ensure that the abbey is adequately serviced and your acolyte numbers will need to be carefully balanced across ever changing duties and vocational tasks.
Pilgrim is a game played over 26 rounds with perfect information, zero randomness (once the game starts), and one hundred and sixty sextillion possible starting set-ups. Player interaction is intense and constant. The meek might inherit the earth, but you will need to be made of stronger stuff to become the next cardinal and win the game

WHY BACK NOW?

As independent publishers, we have realistic aspirations of what the sales numbers for this game will be and there are no anticipated  economies for sales running to 1000's of units. This print run will be for only 1000 games. However we do appreciate that Pilgrim will not be produced without your trust and support and so it is proposed to offer a thank you to everyone who backs the campaign.

In recognition of your faith in Pilgrim as a project, all backers will be awarded a £10 discount to the MRSP of £75 reducing the price to £65/ copy for all backers. Consider this an extended early bird discount for achieving the funding target.

Have a drink on us. Cheers!

Once the campaign ends the full MRSP of £75 will apply to all further sales.

WHAT'S BEEN SAID?

STRETCH GOALS?

Over 1200 hours have been spent on the design, playtesting and development of Pilgrim. Every effort has been made to ensure that the game is as balanced and complete as it can be. In tandem with this, a conscious decision has been taken to deliver the game with the best quality components to compliment the playing experience.

As a result, Pilgrim contains some superb bespoke wooden items as standard. Acolytes have been screen printed,

and a special embroidered draw bag is included.;

Over 50 pieces of original artwork have been commissioned from Harald Lieske so backers of this game will receive a  product of exceptional quality.

So with this completionist philosophy regarding the contents of the base game, where do stretch goals fit in?

Well the simple answer is that they do not. There are no stretch goals to this campaign because the game in the box is as good as we could make it,

No ifs and no buts..

Risks and challenges

The game will be manufactured by a long established company with an excellent reputation for quality and delivery. We are confident in their ability to deliver the required standard to the agreed programme. At the time of this project going to launch, all of the finished artwork and design information is in their hands, it has been priced, and awaits the success of the campaign to allow the instruction to be given to proceed. Dependent upon how smoothly manufacturing and shipping completes it is the intention to ship the games within one week of receipt by fullfillment in Germany. No copies will be released for sale before the start of Essen.

Delivery times will vary according to your local postal services. All transactions are in £ (UK) Sterling. Please check your local exchange rate to confirm costs in your currency. Please ensure that you are aware of taxes and duties payable in your country.

By backing this project, you indicate that you have read, understood and agreed with the above. If you have any questions, please contact us directly via the gamefound message system.
