First Ascent is a rock climbing-themed board game for 2-5 players and takes 40-120 minutes to play. The goal in this strategic and competitive game is to gain the most points by climbing the best route up the mountain and becoming the most skilled climber! Each player assumes the role of a unique asymmetric character, and throughout the game they will be creating their route, achieving objectives, accumulating gear, building skills and improving their technique!
Kickstarter backers: No action is required at this time. We will ask Kickstarter backers to verify their shipping addresses and pay for shipping as manufacturing of the game is wrapping up in spring 2022.
Timeline: First Ascent was successfully funded on Kickstarter in July 2021 by more than 1,200 backers and is anticipated to deliver in August 2022. The team is looking forward to bringing the game to tabletops, climbing gyms and cliff-side campgrounds around the world.
International shipping: All games are shipped delivery duty unpaid (DDU) from the United States. EU and UK backers WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR TAXES, CUSTOMS FEES, AND VAT upon delivery of the game to their country. We understand this is not ideal, but restructuring of VAT and tax laws in the EU and UK make it impractical for small, indie creators such as ourselves to collect and remit these fees.
