4 Million Reasons to Celebrate!

Aggiornamento #28
New Character Dante Caruso / New Boss Fight: Simon “Royce” Randall Boss / New Stretch Goals / Q&A / Street Stories
Hi, Chooms!

It’s already the 11th day – time goes fast! The campaign is going fantastic with a community such as you onboard. We’re so happy that you liked the Trauma Team Expansion so much! Thank you for all your appreciation and excited comments. We’re also looking into your feedback to make sure playing with the iconic paramedics will bring you as much joy as possible!

It’s not the only good news. There’s already over 4 million USD on the counter! It wouldn’t be possible without the 20.000 (!) backers who believed in our project and supported it. It resulted in 48 (!!) unlocked stretch goals that will be free for all who pledged for any edition of the game. You’re amazing! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!

But we’re not done yet. We have a VERY special surprise for you today! Before we see what it is, let’s check what else you will find in this update. Today, Łukasz takes care of this section in his video, so we recommend checking it out. He also answers some of your questions and says more about add-ons, stretch goals, as well as the surprise. We also have a fourth part of You Ask, We Answer below, so if your doubts weren’t responded to in the video, maybe you can find what you’d like to know there.

Alright, let’s see the video!
Ready to dive deeper into the surprise and the rest of the update? Be sure to stay with us until the very end, because in the last section, we have a mission for you!

Today, We Have Another Surprise Stretch Goal for You!

Together with CD PROJEKT RED, we are excited to introduce Dante Caruso as a playable character in Cyberpunk 2077 – The Board Game.

That character is unique to us because he is portrayed by Dawid Podsiadło, the singer and songwriter behind “Let You Down” and “Phantom Liberty.”

[ Dawid Podsiadło, P.T. Adamczyk — Phantom Liberty (Official Cyberpunk 2077 Music Video)]

Dawid is not only a great musician but also a huge gamer and tabletop enthusiast. We’re thrilled to have him on board and introduce Dante Caruso as a playable character in Cyberpunk 2077 – The Board Game.

Dante is Militech’s undercover agent and is ready to join your crew. He understands how easy it is to misjudge when you’re acting alone, but he’d rather pull the trigger one extra time than leave room for regret.

Some of the action cards in Dante’s deck have extension symbols in different colors. Play the cards in the right order to gain extra action symbols. Take advantage of this boost, even if your shard level isn’t high enough! Working undercover sometimes requires pushing beyond your limits.

That stretch goal is already unlocked. It’s Gamefound exclusive content that all backers will receive for free, and it won’t be available for retail sale.

The Parallax Mission and Crafting Frenzy Set Are in the Game!
You unlocked the Crafting Card Set: Crafting Frenzy! Now you’ll amaze everyone with your unbelievable crafting skills. And you’ll need these swift hands because Parallax: The Sound of Silence is officially the 19th mission in the game! Remember to gear up well and prepare a solid sign system, because Arasaka’s research facility won’t forgive you any mistakes!

New content to unlock
So many stretch goals behind us… and yet there’s plenty more to look out for! What’s currently on the radar?

New Legend Action Cards: Rush
The Rush set of legend action cards will make a top sprinter out of the laziest couch potato. Opponents' bullets won’t hurt you if they miss!

Need an example?

  • >>> Dash symbol – dash lets you run forward as many spaces as you want until the first obstacle you reach. Make that epic slide!

New Legend Action Cards: Support
A legendary edgrunner like you knows that teamwork makes dream work. Cooperate with your crew, using new abilities added to your deck!
Need an example?

  • Item switch symbol –  Thanks to this yellow legend action card, you’ll be able to share your DIYs with other edgerunners! Become the favorite member of the team, ready to support companions anytime with this bomb made out of a stick, a clip, and a family heirloom (for good luck)!

New Game Mode: Drones – Community-Driven Stretch Goal
Nobody likes a fly buzzing around their head. Now imagine that fly is armed with guns and REALLY wants to ruin your day.
Drones are a new game mode – inspired by your idea! – you can add to your gameplay to make missions tougher. If you choose to use it, you’ll roll an extra die during encounters with guards. Get unlucky, and a flying killing machine will appear right next to you out of nowhere! Get even more unlucky, and it’ll spawn on the elevator tile, blocking your escape!

At least they only have 1 HP.

The mode brings eight drone tokens and four drone dice to the table.

New Boss Fight: Simon “Royce” Randall Boss
We introduce the 3rd powerful boss to the game!
Simon Randall is not to be messed with. He’s known as a traitor who took the position of Maelstrom’s leader by force, mercilessly killing all supporters of the former man in charge. He’s utterly unpredictable and raises fear even among his cyberpsychotic followers.

If anything positive can be said about Randall, it’s that he knows how to do biz. Maelstrom happened to put their hands on some Militech merchandise, which they intend to sell. You know it must be valuable, very valuable. Showing up during the operation will be risky, especially since Royce is going to keep an eye on things, but the money involved could set you for some time!

You Ask, We Answer – Pt. 4

Today, we’re taking up two recently reemerging topics. We spill some tea about working with your suggestions and take a look at all unlocked characters to give you a clearer picture of the differences between them and how they enrich the game.

What Do We Do With Your Suggestions?

You’re giving us a lot of suggestions – every day, many new ideas appear in the comments. We’re taking note of every one of your suggestions, and this list is now approaching 200 items. You’re focusing on many different aspects of the game, like miniatures, artwork, mechanics, etc.

We greatly appreciate this, as it means that together, we’re all contributing to making the game as good as possible in every aspect.

We’re trying to implement many of your suggestions during the campaign itself – we’re improving the miniatures (like T-Bug and Panam), and expanding mechanics (like Security Tokens or Drones).
The list of your ideas is very large, and we certainly won’t be able to test or improve everything during the campaign. A few months after the campaign ends, we’ll continue with in-depth testing, balancing the mechanics, and polishing the game as a whole. We’re not able to respond to every comment, but we will consider each one.
Remember, the end of the campaign does not mean the end of work on the game. In the coming months, further updates will be posted here to keep you informed about the development of Cyberpunk 2077 – The Board Game.

Character Diversity

We want to shed some more light on the diversity of characters introduced to the game. As part of the stretch goals, your team has already gained four new characters (Takemura, River Ward, T-Bug, and Alt), and today Dante Caruso has joined the crew.

We already discussed Dante Caruso’s unique mechanic that allows him to boost the actions on his cards. Now, we want to give you a more detailed description of how the other characters unlocked through stretch goals differ. We believe that going a little bit deeper with the explanation will allow you to see why playing as any character is a completely unique gameplay universe.

Goro Takemura

His Acton cards deck includes a red card with a katana symbol, allowing him to leap towards an enemy and eliminate them in one move.

This makes playing as Takemura a matter of careful deck management, focused on creating opportunities for using katana action.

His quickhack, Request Backup, enables a playstyle that avoids frequent confrontations with Guards. Instead, Takemura moves stealthily through corporate offices, using his knowledge of security systems to strike at the right moment and vanish into the shadows again – just like a true Ronin!

T-Bug

A brilliant netrunner. T-Bug is the only character who can be in two places at once. Her Flathead – represented by a miniature –  is a highly versatile tool, and how you use it is entirely up to you!

If you choose to support allies, you can open doors and bring them valuable finds. As an invisible robot, you have the option to lure Guards away from key mission locations.

Ultimately, you can also use quickhacks in new ways thanks to an extended line of sight, or disable optical camouflage and complete the mission without even leaving the elevator!

River Ward
In every mission, River has access to small side tasks – represented by investigation cards. If completed, they provide the team with additional resources and boosts.

Additionally, River is another character who allows for a stealthy approach in Cyberpunk. His special symbol lets him hide from the Guards’ sight, and when he moves, he takes no Damage upon entering a tile with an Enemy. Use these abilities wisely to complete investigations and strike the corporation with undeniable evidence!

Alt Cunningham
Become the queen of cyberspace – use the Digital Ghost mode to bring down the corporation.

Alt has two states she can switch between – physical form and digital ghost. It is represented by her double-sided cyberdeck token.

Each state comes with its own advantages and disadvantages: in physical form, she has no access to netrunning abilities, but when she switches to digital ghost, she unleashes their full potential in it. Playing as Alt involves managing both modes and choosing the right one for the situation on the board.

A Special Mission for the Weekend!
That’s all we prepared for today. Be sure to let us know what you think about our surprise and ask any questions you may have about the game or the campaign – we’ll respond to as many of them as we can. And as the weekend begins, we’d like to invite you to a creative mission.

As you know, Cyberpunk 2077 – The Board Game has a few exploration mechanisms. One of them is street stories, which let you immerse yourself into brutal, yet surprising Night City. They test your skills, morality, and sometimes luck – it’s an important aspect of survival in this town. The way you handle the situation through choices and trials have an impact on your next mission. Sometimes the result may be helpful, sometimes not… but that’s Night City’s charm – you can never be sure what will happen to you! Below, you can see an example of a street story:
We love crowdfunding for allowing us to involve you in the development process, making you co-creators of the game! That’s why we decided to ask: how do you imagine Night City’s street life? Night City is so rich in possibilities we wouldn’t have any problem digging out ideas ourselves, but the work on the stories is still in progress, and exploration would be so much more fun if it was also designed by all the edgerunners who’ll experience the awaiting events! Some of you already shared their idea:
Thank you for inspiring us, Habaneros! Your comment is a great example to use by other participants of this mission. In the comment section, you can write what situations and people you’d like to encounter during exploration. Tag your comment with #streetstories and help us make this city colorful as bright neons! You’re an inexhaustible source of phenomenal ideas – we believe you’ll have outstanding ones this time, too! So…

Join the adventure!
