THE MAP!

So after a pretty major rework that solves many problems by allowing this map to sit simply side by side the Alexander map ... here it is.
THE MAP

Well after some very clever ideas from Eivind out designer and a bit of me working through all the maps for the era i give you the final core game map along with a commentary of how e have dealt with some of the issues. Please check it over as again 1000 eyes are better than 2. Overall the map has been tilted from W-E to more WWN to SSE so that the angle fits with the regions needed for Alexander.


That has been a total rework alas but worth it. As you read I think you will understand why it has taken a while for the artists to meet my strict quality cirteria. It is now near-perfect as far as I am concerned adn delighted to share it.
So let me take you through a few clever things this allows us to do... so first of all home regions are now shown by having some coloured shding in the naming box for each region. You will see these have changed a little and all now working beautifully ...the best kept secrets and all that. So here are the areas.

ROME
So you see the red shading on the home regions. Very subtle and does the job nicely. No clutter from faction symbols anywhere. So if you switch to using faction booster nations you just mark up their home territories with counters that have a black ring around them.

CARTHAGE
Now a bit more concentrated which allows better space for Numidia to be played at the same time as Carthage.
GREECE
I have redesigned this to be more correct and more easily adapt to allow the Greek city states booster back to be used and have Athenians and Spartans etc.

BARBARIAN TRIBES
Not much to add except the only one without a 2 Gold value region.
BRITANNIA
Now has 3 home regions allow the faction to be played as a booster.
EASTERN FRONTIER
We have added regions on the East. Some of them have no data. These are not to be used in the core game and the details are on the Alexander map when it joins up. Adding some Eastern regions allows the Pontic and Seleucids to be played heading West on the core map. But putting too many gives Greece too much easy territory in a 4-player game. For anyone keen on Pontic or Successors, I strongly recommend getting Alexander and connecting the two up.

THE NILE AREA
Is now all correct as requested by me for some time.
THE DANUBE
Now runs the correct path and the Hungarian Plains exists properly.

TERRAIN

I have been through all the Roman maps with Mortem et Gloriam list-meister and historian Richard Jeffrey-Cook and all the geogrpahic maps of forestation in the period, and corrected a lot of terrain a a result that was not really right. So as you can see ,I have been through it all with a fine-tooth comb, as we say in the UK.
