Project overview
Plastic Dungeon is back with a new Kickstarter, and we hope gamers everywhere will love our fun, new product! As always when starting a new company, supplies and equipment are more difficult to come by than ideas for amazing new gaming accessories to bring you! We are still hard at work on terrain designs, and we're making progress, but we didn't want to make you wait too long before bringing you another chance to see what we can do. This time, we decided to focus on something every gamer needs, something few gamers ever go without... something that's truly universal in the gaming community:
Dice.
Or rather, where to put them.
What can be said regarding gamers and their dice? In our considerable time as gamers, we have seen players collect dice, select combinations of dice for certain characters, and designate (un)lucky dice. Even stranger, players regularly talk to, yell at, and even plead with their dice, praise and hug and blow on their dice, punish their dice for repeated bad rolls, and isolate them in dice prisons. Gamers will treat their dice with accessories like dice towers for rolling, dice bags for carrying, and fancy boxes for showing off their collections. We have done all of this ourselves, and more.
Understanding this complicated relationship gamers have with their dice, Plastic Dungeon has designed a dice box which fulfills the need to carry, care for and punish your shiny math rocks in a manner both stylish and adorable.
Introducing: the Petmaster Dice Carrier! Now you can carry your little monsters to the game in style! You can even use it to shake and roll them like a dice cup, or to put one or more inside during the game as a time-out if necessary! Imagine, next time you cast a fireball, dumping in a handful of dice, shaking the carrier menacingly, then opening the detailed hinged door to unleash the beasts!
The Petmaster comes in a variety of colors, with even more choices available as we hit higher goals. We have several designs in the works for creative patterns for the side of the carrier, including classic air holes, stylized letters that say "Dice", little hearts, and more. Carry, roll, punish, and store your dice in style with the Petmaster!
With your Pledge, you’ll receive a 3D printed physical Petmaster Dice Carrier in your choice of colors and side pattern. You can choose to have your new Petmaster Dice Carrier arrive fully assembled and ready for use by Plastic Dungeon, or unassembled for you to assemble yourself (an ideal option for anyone pledging for multiple Carriers but not sure how they want to combine the colors). Our goal is to complete printing and have everything mailed out in time for the holidays! Alternatively, should you have your own 3D printer you may pledge for the .stl files and print your own!
One thing we are never short on is new ideas, and we have more ideas for options than we can include with basic funding. Enter: Stretch Goals! While we will be fully funded at $250, further funding will give us the ability to buy more filament colors and spend more time perfecting and testing new designs!
At $350, green and red filament colors will be available, as will a classic paw-print design option for the side of the carrier. At $500, we will alter the door grating to include a d20 design option, and at $750, we will create more options for the carrier sides, including heart and circle cutouts, and add blue and purple filament colors to the list. At $1250, we'll include metallic filament color options in a shiny silver or gold color, and a diamond pattern along the side.
Additionally, some of the higher tiers will see alterations to the design of the carrier itself. Once we get to $1000 pledged, we will be creating a more detailed way of connecting the pieces, allowing for the carrier to be clipped together and taken apart at will, for easier storage. Finally, once reaching $1500 pledged, we can design and test adding a keyring option, so you can take your dice with you wherever you go!
We've seen some positive changes to our business, and this time around, we have decided to offer both printed copies of our product as well as the STL files, in case members of the 3D printing community want to print- or even sell- their own copies!
Our last Kickstarter, featuring the Stone Arch with or without a variety of inserts, also generated some interest in the STL files. At that time, we were not prepared to offer that option, but now that this has changed, we have decided to offer these files as well. Simply add them on to any order to print yourself, or with a commercial license if you want to sell them as well.
Finally, with a whole variety of holidays just around the corner, we realize that these little dice carriers make fantastic gifts for friends in your gaming group, but that they would make much more sense if they included a set of dice. We absolutely have you covered! Simply add on a set of dice, and we'll tuck them into the carrier before we send it, so they can get cozy in their new home.
Our last Kickstarter was a huge success, and we look forward to serving the gaming community once again. We appreciate everything you all do to make these projects possible! Thank you so much for supporting a small business like ours, run by gamers like you... and as always, happy gaming!
